The Swann-Morton Retractable Safety Scalpel supports and enhances safe passing procedures and protocols already practiced within the Operating Room and Theatres. The Retractable Safety Scalpel has a reinforced temporary lock in the forward user position ensuring the blade will stay extended even if it encounters a hard surface or bone during use. When in the retracted position the slider mechanism contains a notch that holds the blade securely in the retracted position. A permanent lock position at the rear of the scalpel, requiring a conscious amount of force to engage the slider, ensures the contaminated blade remains retracted whilst disposing in an appropriate sharps container at the end of the procedure. The high visibility red handle and colour coded sliders for ease of blade shape recognition are available fitted with a No. 10, 10A, 10R, 11P, 12, 15, 15C, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25A blade and Stitch Cutter All these sizes are available in single peel sterile packs and a bulk non sterile format for the kit and tray packers.
Retractable Safety Stitch Cutter - Further to the implementation of EU Sharps Directive across the member states of extended Europe, Swann-Morton have responded to demand for a safety stitch cutter. Functioning in the same fashion as the existing range of Retractable safety scalpels the Stitch Cutter has a high visibility Yellow slider to compliment the Red body. Stitch Cutters are often used within GP Practice, Care homes or during Domiciliary visits so it is essential that an exposed sharp is not left around after use as there may well be other parties such as children, residents or even a household pet within the immediate vicinity. With the Safety Stitch cutter the blade can be retracted away and locked in place to avoid any potential sharps injuries.
